Alexander Vindman

Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired)

Alex, a former U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, was the director for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Russia on the White House’s National Security Council. Before that, he served as the Political-Military Affairs Officer for Russia for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and as an attaché at American Embassies in Kyiv and Moscow. While on the Joint Staff, he authored the U.S. National Military Strategy for Russia. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart, having sustained wounds in a 2004 IED attack during the Iraq War. He earned his master’s degree from Harvard University, where he serves as a Hauser Leader, and his PhD from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he is currently a senior fellow. Alex is an executive board member for the Renew Democracy Initiative, a senior advisor for VoteVets, and the author of The New York Times bestselling memoir Here, Right Matters. He has also served as a fellow at the Pritzker Military Museum & Library and the Lawfare Institute. Since the start of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Alex has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. to publicly advocate for Western unity in the face of authoritarian aggression. Alex remains engaged with senior leaders in Washington and Kyiv and is committed to the cause of transatlantic security and democracy.

Yevgeny (Eugene) Vindman

Yevgeny (Eugene) Vindman served as the deputy legal adviser on the White House’s National Security Council, where his portfolio included NATO, the International Criminal Court, emerging technologies, international humanitarian law, and ethics. Eugene was responsible for sensitive internal White House investigations and ethics compliance. He has significant experience in government contracting, acquisitions, and sanctions. Prior to the National Security Council, he served in a variety of roles in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps, including as a senior legal policy advisor at the Pentagon, the senior prosecutor for Fort Hood, and as an operational law attorney for U.S. Forces-Iraq. He served for 12 years as an infantry officer, including in the 82nd Airborne Division. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and Binghamton University. Eugene is an advisory board member of Integrity Initiatives International, a group dedicated to fighting corruption around the world. He is also engaged on the ground in Ukraine, where he investigates war crimes on behalf of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group, a joint initiative created by the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. Eugene is committed to ethics, transparency, and accountability.
